NORTHS have struck up a partnership with Brisbane outfit Wynnum Manly in a move that should have multiple benefits for both clubs.
From how they play to how they operate off the field, the sister clubs will be able to share resources and knowledge in a first for NCC. As Cairns is such a long way from Brisbane it can take time for new and exciting developments coming out of QLD Cricket and Cricket Australia to reach us. We believe that with this relationship it will help us keep up with the ever-evolving game of cricket.
Not only will we exchange knowledge but we will also begin a yearly preseason game between both clubs, the hosting duties to be shared year to year. The first game will be played in the 2016/17 preseason with a venue to be determined.
The partnership will allow any player looking to move between the two cities an easy transition, knowing they will be joining a club similar to the one they are leaving. Norths’ head coach Mike O’Brien will visit Wynnum Manly on November 12 to review their senior training program to help us further develop our senior players.
